Walid Morsi, head of the district, led a campaign round butchers’ shops and sacrifice-animal tents to check the quality and safety of the meat on sale and the health rules, and to make sure nothing blocked the pavements. It covered El Sadaka Street in Sidi Bishr Qibli, Mostafa Kamel Street, Aql Pasha Street, Tourell Square, Souq Street in Darbala and the main street of El Zawayda.
The campaign collected EGP 275,000 in fines for violations on setting up tents, permits and the rules in force, and legal action was taken against the offenders.
