Walid Ali Morsi, the district head, led a large campaign at Masaken El Amrican on Malak Hefny Bahari Street against informal waste sorting (“freeza”) and scavenging, with the El Montazah I utilities police, the governorate’s environmental monitoring department, Nahdet Misr Environmental Services and the district departments concerned.
Two illegal kiosks used for waste sorting were removed and broken up, 4 truckloads of sacks weighing about 3 tonnes and 300 kg and 210 kg of assorted scrap were taken away, and the area’s rubbish was cleared.
